Online Class IV Laser Safety Course for Dentists - Australia

This course is designed for dentists responsible for the safe use of therapy and surgical lasers in their practice. It provides comprehensive knowledge of Class IV surgical diode lasers used in soft tissue and oral surgery. The training covers basic laser physics, an understanding of surgical laser parameters (power, pulsing, T-On, T-Off, spot size, and wavelengths), specific laser hazards, methods for prevention, and common safety protocols to implement in dental practice.

Laser License for Dentists in Australia

This course is essential for obtaining a laser license and fulfilling compliance, regulatory, and insurance requirements. In Queensland, Tasmania, and Western Australia, a laser license is required to use a Class IV surgical laser. In the ACT, NT, NSW, VIC, and SA, while a laser license is not necessary for Class IV lasers, it is advisable to complete a laser safety course for insurance purposes. This course adheres to Australian and New Zealand standards and laser safety regulations and can be used to apply for a laser license in QLD, TAS, and WA.

Recommended Study Time

Typically, half a day is sufficient to complete this surgical laser safety course, but students have up to one year to finish. The online course offers 2 credits in continuing education, and students can begin at any time.
